TALENT TURKU KICK-OFF 22.5.2018

TALENT TURKU KICK-OFF will take place on 22 May 2018 at 13:30-15:30 on riverferry Jakke Jokilautta.

Launch of the Talent Turku takes place in a kick-off event organized in conjunction with the Shift Business Festival 2018. The event is targeted at companies, universities, institutional partners, communities and individuals contributing to talent attraction and retention.

Economic boom is shaping Southwest Finland. However, lack off skilled labour is a major bottleneck for growth. City of Turku is committed to tackle this challenge and support the industries to fully benefit from the positive structural change.

Among other initiatives the city is aiming to make Turku more attractive to international experts. Talent Turku is a new network facilitating interaction between all stakeholders willing to make the city internationally appealing place to live and invest in.

Programme includes keynotes about challenges and opportunities related to the global race for talents. In addition, both upcoming and ongoing activities related to this issue will be presented.

Summer holiday time and Finnish tradition and working life 24.4.2018

When? Tuesday 24th of April at 3:15pm-4:45pm.

Where? Turku University of Applied Sciences, Joukahaisenkatu 3A (room C1031), Turku

As part of POLKU-project we are organizing an evening for new international students about Finnish culture, customs and working life during the summer holiday time.

Your are welcome to  listen about summer holiday time and Finnish culture and tradition and their relations to working life. We will concentrate on summer time (from 1st of May until autumn) and discuss how the summer traditions affect the working life.

We have seats for 24 students.

Whom?  The event is open for all higher education students

The mystery path is approx. 4 km long and begins at the Main Library of Turku (Linnankatu 2). Along the Path, there will be 10 crosspoints, which are presenting cultural- and everyday life services by the City of Turku as well as associations and organizations in Turku.

From the start area you’ll get a route map and passport. To the passport you’ll be collecting marks from every crosspoint. Full passport will solve the LOST IN TURKU- mystery and it will be returned to the end zone and each member of the group gets product prizes.

Day@Work events for international students from May to August 2018.

Would you like to be acquainted with the Finnish working culture, particulary in a Turku-based company?

Brahea Center at the University of Turku in collaboration with OpiskelijaKaupunki Turku is organising this spring a second round of Day@Work for international degree students at the universities in Turku.

The concept is that the international degree students get to know about Finnish business culture and what is it like to work in a startup for 1 day.

The schedule for the event is as follow:

  • Application deadline: March 30th
  • Information session to students on Finnish business culture, organized by Turku World Trade Center: tbc, mid-April 2018
  • Final selection of students to participate in Day@Work and matchmaking: by April 27th
  • Day@Work: to be organized between May and August 2018, depending on the students and startup availability

Finnish Export Sales House training courses

Dear student,

Are you looking for a job? Do you want a new direction for your career? Are you interested in working with international exports?

Finnish Export Sales House (www.fesh.fi/english/) trains export specialists and is now looking for students for the 2018 export training (the dates will be agreed later).

– after that our company markets them to the Finnish exporting companies

Finnish Export Sales House welcome you warmly to participate in the Web Export Training. The training is very practical and it will help you to gain new skills of international exports.

Where will it be held?
The education is held as a web education with an education programme ‘Go To Meeting’ to the persons who have send us their confirmation of the participation.

When does it start?
The export training will be starting in January 2018. The dates will be agreed later.

Language for the education
The education will be held in English.

Duration of the education
The education lasts 1,5 months and contains 15 lectures,  2-3 hours in the evenings between 5pm and 8pm.

What do you need for the education?
You need for the education a computer with an internet connection.

For the training there are following two possibilities:

1.) Only training

Including:
-web education
-sending  about 15 lessons of export
-certificate of the education

Price: 200,00  EUR

2.) Training and Marketing to Export Enterprises

a) Personal skype interview
– only the persons who are matching to export sales are chosen for the education

b) Web education:
– sending  about 15 lessons of exports
– sending questionnaires of these lessons and as reply corrected lessons
– certificate of the education

c) Intensive marketing to export enterprises
– after the education the information (picture and other basic information)  of these persons will be updated on our webpage http://www.fesh.fi/vientihenkilot/

–  Finnish Export Sales House makes a contract with the exporting company for ex. for 6 Months.
– after this trial period the company may employ our person

This project gives a real possibility to get permanent job in an Finnish exporting company

Friendship Programme Spring 2018

Welcome to participate in the Friendship Programme! 

WHAT IS THE FRIENDSHIP PROGRAMME?
The Friendship Programme offers the international visitors of the higher education institutions in Turku (students, teachers and researchers) and the local friends a chance for mutual cultural exchange and unforgettable experiences.

The student tutor helps with study related issues, but with the Friend from the local community it is possible to learn more about the Finnish culture and everyday life.
All activities within the Friendship Programme are voluntary. It is up to the international visitor and his/her Friend to decide what they want to do together and how often they meet.

WHO ARE THE FRIENDS?
The participants of the programme are ordinary Finnish persons and families living in Turku or in the neighbouring area. The Friends can be of different ages ranging from students to pensioners.

HOW TO TAKE PART?
If you are interested in participating in the programme, you’ll find the application form on the programme’s website (see address below).

The deadline for applications is January 21st, 2018
