The Department of Ethnology, History of Religions and Gender Studies invites applications for a 2-year part time (0.5FTE) research position within the division of Ethnology to work on the Swedish Research Council funded project: ‘The afterlives of migration: Integration, ordinary ethics and intimate citizenship’.

Forskningsprojektet handlar om oväntade släktskaps betydelse för identitet och minnen och forskarna består av en grupp etnologer, historiker och arkivvetare.
I centrum för projektet står svensk släktforskning och vad som händer när släktforskare stöter på oväntade härkomster i släktleden. Hur det påverkar identitetsskapanden och kulturella minnen.

Special issue of Ethnologia Fennica explores sustainability-related transgressions and contestations in various parts of the food system, looking for more sustainable foodways and offering guidelines for future research. This thematic issue draws inspiration from the panel and from the round table ‘Braking norms and traditions in pursuit of sustainable food ways’ discussion held at the SIEF 2021 congress: Breaking the rules? Power, Participation and Transgression. The panel discussed the pursuit of sustainable foodways and related norm-making and norm-breaking practices, asking the following question: ‘What kinds of transgressions are, and are not, made when seeking more sustainable foodways?’ The panel and roundtable discussion built on the idea that the pursuit of a sustainable future involves the breaking of old food-related rules, the making of new ones and the bending of both. The aim of the roundtable was to encourage further discussion on whether and how ethnologists can participate in the pursuit of sustainable foodways. By mapping the past, present and future state of the ethnological study of food and sustainability, this issue continues these discussions.
The Call for Papers for the twelfth instalment of the interdisciplinary discourse studies conference Diskurs – interdisziplinär in Dresden, Germany, from November 16th to 17th, 2023 i snow open. The main conference language this year is English, and we especially invite discourse researchers from beyond Germany to submit abstracts (by April 30th, 2023).

Institutet för språk och folkminnen (Isof) söker nu en samordnare: dels för att stötta myndighetens arbete med Unescos konvention om tryggandet av det immateriella kulturarvet, dels för att sprida kunskap om språk och kultur.

FUDEM is a collaboration between six Swedish universities including Linnaeus University, Linköping University, Lund University, Södertörn University, University of Gothenburg and Uppsala University.
