iPad in Teacher Education

The research project iPad in teacher education is an investigation of teacher students’ use of the iPad for their studies and learning within teacher education. The study seeks answers to the question of which students are helped by the use of the iPad for their studies and learning and which ones are not.

During the academic year 2011-2012, 160 first and second year teacher students participated in the study by answering questionnaires before, during and after the lectures of two different courses. During this year, 2012-2013, the same procedure are repeated in the same courses for about 160 first and second year teacher students.

It is in first-hand the relationship between teacher students’ attitudes about children and media, their experiences of using ICT, their personality and their self-concept of how they perceive the use of the tablet for their learning in two courses during the first and second year of study. The study also wants to elucidate what happens when students use the tablet and what the students themselves say about their use.
