Hindi and Sanskrit: Two Uneven Sisters and Their Political Mobilization

Hindi and Sanskrit are sister languages within the list of India’s 22 “national languages,” with Hindi being the “official language” of India in addition. Both languages are often used as symbolic representations of Indian/Hindu identity, contradicting the intercultural dimensions of both of them molded and inherited.
