John Braidwood

Arriving at Oulu University in Finland in 2007, John is responsible for British and Irish cultural studies there. He wrote his doctorate in British Cultural Studies at Warwick University, embracing discourses of national identity, public commemoration and forgetting, and the nature of overlapping homelands and cultural hybridity. Interests include: Michael Hartnett, Maurice Walsh, Rory Gallagher, the H-Blocks, the Miners’ Strike, national poetry, film, society and politics in the Atlantic Archipelago, as well as the life and work of Scots historian Robert William Seton-Watson. Not to mention the mighty Horslips.

John will present in Panel 1: Irish Literature and Alternative Culture in the 19th and 20th Centuries.
