Anthony Johnson

Anthony Johnson, MA, PhD (Oxon.), is J.O.E. Donner Professor of English Language and Literature at Åbo Akademi University, is the current Chair of the NISN, former president of NAES and FINSSE, and a member of the Societas Scientiarum Fennica. Specialisms are in Early Modern and Interdisciplinary Studies, and he has led projects funded by NOS-H and the Academy of Finland. Books range from Ben Jonson: Poetry and Architecture (OUP, 1994) to the co-edited volume, Community-Making in Early Stuart Theatres: Stage and Audience (Routledge, 2017), with more recent essays on Irish topics. As a founding member of the Irish Music Society of Oulu, he has been much concerned with the promotion and performance of Irish music and poetry in Finland.

Anthony will chair Panel 2: In Search of Spatial Justice: Readings in Irish Literary Urban Studies and Panel 7: Perspectives on 21st Century Poetry as well as the Reading and Music on Thursday.
