European integration is in constant state of flux. The public debates on the current state of the European Union highlight the many crises that the EU is facing. Some foresee a disintegration of the EU, whereas others assume that the Union\u2019s future lies with ever closer integration. Beyond the headlines of crisis management, much of the everyday work of European integration continues to affect the political life of people both within and without EU\u2019s borders.<\/p>\n
The Covid-19 crisis has shaken the EU. Member states have pursued differing policies and been hit by the crisis to different degrees. At the same time the EU has taken unpresented action in terms of common\u00a0debt and\u00a0fiscal stimulus. While the future of the union seems unclear it is already apparent that the crisis may both accelerate integration in some areas while heightening the already simmering political tensions in others.<\/p>\n
This panel call for papers and presentations\u00a0from multiple disciplinary backgrounds focusing on European integration, broadly defined. The aim of this panel is to bring together the varieties of research strands on European integration in Finland and beyond. What\u00a0are\u00a0the crucial research question on European integration at the moment and looking\u00a0beyond the crisis\u00a0into the future?<\/p>\n
