Doctoral Positions

We offer 49 paid doctoral researcher positions in the field of Software Engineering.  The positions are part of a major national investment on  doctoral training and provide full funding for a period of three years, starting in August 2024. As a doctoral researcher in one of these positions, you will belong to a research network of Finland’s top software engineering researchers from nine different universities.

The research groups in this consortium collectively cover most major software engineering subfields: empirical software engineering; design science based software engineering; software architectures; software applications; programming languages; user interface programming; software security; software engineering for industrial systems and edge computing; software verification, validation, and testing methods; software processes; human-centric software engineering; requirements engineering; software-intensive business; software product management; and global software engineering.

A large  number of companies are involved in this doctoral training program as partners to provide industrial relevance; they offer internships or other opportunities to participate in the companies’ activities as part of studies, giving a view to industry-scale software development operations. Our partner companies also play a pivotal role in providing real-world data about software engineering in practice.
