Turku is the\u00a0is the sixth largest city in Finland and has the soul of an international culture capital in the approachable setting of\u00a0a small city. Turku is the oldest city in Finland, founded in 1229, and has extensively influenced\u00a0Finnish history as the former capital.<\/p>\n

In 1996, Turku was declared the ”Christmas City” of Finland. In 2011 Turku was the European Culture Capital alongside Tallin, the capital of Estonia. Turku has also been declared the Food Capital of Finland, because it holds a number of Finland’s oldest and highest quality restaurants. The beautiful Aura riverside hosts a number of high-class restaurants, caf\u00e9s, galleries, museums, shops and the nearly 800-years old Turku Castle.\u00a0 During the summer it is a lively meeting place for locals and a walk along the waterside is a great way to get to know the city.<\/p>\n
