His main goal is to recruit more and better students, get happy and successful students and to get the highest possible retention. He has especially looked to the Anglo-American world for experience and insights. Works of Tinto, Pascarella, Terenzini and Astin are the main inspirations. Especially Tinto\u2019s longitudinal model of institutional departure is a basic instrument. He has summarized his experience, working methodology and the research he bases his work on in a book called <em>\u201c\u00c5 tilrettelegge for at studentene skal lykkes\u201d<\/em>. S\u00e6thre has worked as an academic adviser and leader of the Division of Student and Academic Affairs, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Bergen, Norway. From January 2017, S\u00e6thre is also the leader of a new Norwegian project that aims to make staff and students in all Norwegian universities and student welfare organizations, share their experience and knowledge about how to help students succeed in higher education. He is also the co-leader of one of the research teams at the Nordic Centre of Excellence \u2018Justice through Education in the Nordic countries\u2019. His research interests are focused on issues in education related to multi literacy, bilingualism, classroom studies and equality. Irinja was one of the founding mothers of Nordlys network and has coordinated 8 large EU funded Erasmus Mundus networks in Russia and Eastern Neighborhood. She is specialized in Strategic Mobility and new Initiatives for International Cooperation eg. Scholars at Risk. During the recent years Irinja has been actively involved in the restructuring of UTU Academic and International Affairs. Management of Change in close cooperation with Study Advisors, International Programme Coordinators and Heads of Study Affairs has thus been an essential part of her work. She continues to be a member of Steering group for UTU Academic Affairs, though herself nowadays part of the University Impact and Engagement Unit &#8211; Internationalisation has no boundries. Irinja is also a Deputy member of Universities Finland UNIFI International Experts Group, Vice Chair of the Association of Finnish University IRO Managers and a member Internationalization group of NUAS \u2013 Nordic Association of University Administrators.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jaana Kettunen, University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4<br \/>\nJ\u00f3n\u00edna K\u00e1rdal, University of Iceland<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Keynote: ICT in widening access to career guidance and counselling<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Language: English<\/em><\/p>\n<p>ICT can play a vital part in widening access to career guidance and counselling. This presentation explores: What is the role of ICT and how does it impact on different aspects of career guidance and counselling practice? What skills and competences do career practioners need when using ICT? Practical examples and strategies used for successful use of new technologies in career guidance and counselling are discussed and demonstrated.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-181 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs2.abo.fi\/nuas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/73\/2017\/11\/Jaana-Kettunen-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"124\" height=\"183\" \/>Jaana Kettunen,\u00a0University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, is a Researcher at the Finnish Institute for Educational Research of the University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, Finland. In her work she has been focusing on the design and pedagogical use of information and communications technology (ICT) in learning and working environments. She has extensive experience in training, supporting and working with practitioners throughout Europe. Her research interest is on the role of ICT and social media in career guidance. It is both theoretical and practical: it aims at the development of theory-based and evidence-informed pedagogical practices. Her current research focuses on the career practitioners\u00b4 ways of experiencing and conceptualizing social media in career services, and aspects that are seen as critical in the successful use of these new technologies in career services. Recently her research has also looked in to the ethical practice in social networking and in the role of ICT in relation to national lifelong guidance policies.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/ktl.jyu.fi\/en\/staff\/kettunen-jaana\">https:\/\/ktl.jyu.fi\/en\/staff\/kettunen-jaana<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-182 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs2.abo.fi\/nuas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/73\/2017\/11\/jonina_olafsdottir_kardal432931793.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"127\" height=\"159\" \/><\/p>\n<p>J\u00f3n\u00edna K\u00e1rdal, University of Iceland, is a career and guidance counsellor at the University of Iceland Student Counselling and Career Center (UISCCC) in Iceland.\u00a0 She has vast experience and a demonstrated history of working in higher education. \u00a0J\u00f3n\u00edna has been active in introducing new methods and practices to strengthen the career development services at her university. \u00a0She has a special interest in how ICT and information science can play a role in career development and career services.
