The focus of the discussions this year will be on any of the many ways in which the field of English studies \u2013 literature, linguistics, education, culture \u2013 relates to, comments on, expresses, or is impacted by varieties of attention. Organized in collaboration with the European Federation of Associations and Centres of Irish Studies (EFACIS), whose own conference \u2013 \u201cAttending to Ireland\u201d \u2013 is simultaneously hosted in A\u030abo as complement to the NAES conference, participants are warmly invited to attend, or even contribute to, relevant parallel sessions. The NAES also welcome proposals for papers on English studies in the Nordic countries or with a Nordic interest or connection without a specific focus on this theme and are glad to invite panel suggestions from individuals on administrative issues as well as on thematic and other topics related to Nordic English studies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 2\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Possible topics include, but are not limited to:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Attending to the Islands: Archipelagic Perspectives on Anglophonia<\/li>\n<li>Varieties of attention (whether they be from the perspectives of surveillance, digital humanities, education, inter- multi- disciplinarity and \u2018siloing\u2019, linguistics, translation, literary fiction and non-fiction, history, law, politics, migration, multiculturality, religion, class, sexualities and gender, or elsewhere)<\/li>\n<li>Attention in Education, English, or Anglophone studies in and over time<\/li>\n<li>\u2018Hotspots\u2019 of attention or inattention (historical, cultural, geographical, or environmental)<\/li>\n<li>Changing areas of attention in language and language studies<\/li>\n<li>Authorial and fictional attention<\/li>\n<li>Changing social \/ generational \/ religious forms of attention within Anglophonia Borders, surveys, and mappings<\/li>\n<li>Paying attention in historical literary and\/or linguistic studies<\/li>\n<li>Memory \/ Heritage (linguistic, historical, intermedial) and their expression in language and literature<\/li>\n<li>Attention and the phenomenology of perception<\/li>\n<li>\u201cIsland phenomena\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Attention and narrative<\/li>\n<li>Transnational attention<\/li>\n<li>Inattention, apocalypse, catastrophe<\/li>\n<li>Ageing and attention<\/li>\n<li>Diachronic and\/or synchronic approaches and methods<\/li>\n<li>Theoretical approaches to attention<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Papers, posters and panels are welcomed, in all the above-mentioned fields, and on related topics.
