The course runs in hybrid format (online and on location in Ume\u00e5). Note! You must have approval from your main supervisor in order to attend the course.<\/p>\n<p>The course runs from 19 February 2026 to 23 March 2026, and registration is open from 1 to 30 November.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The course consists of three parts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first part provides a general introduction to how digital research has emerged as a field at the intersection of the humanities and social sciences. The complex and dynamic nature of the field, its history and key concepts are discussed with a focus on interdisciplinarity.<\/p>\n<p>The second part includes lectures, practical briefings and workshops on digital methods. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are covered, but the focus is on method combinations. This part of the course also includes lectures and seminars on the specific ethical challenges of digital research.<\/p>\n<p>The third and final part of the course provides examples of specific and research-oriented applications of tools and perspectives that are linked to ongoing digital research in the humanities and social sciences at Ume\u00e5 University.
