Det \u00e4r onekligen en hel del p\u00e5 g\u00e5ng vid \u00c5A, p\u00e5 b\u00e5de konkret och \u00f6vergripande niv\u00e5.<\/p>\n
Rektor Mikael Lindfelt s\u00e4nde nyss ut ett brev till hela personalen med fr\u00e5gan hur vi skapar de b\u00e4sta verksamhetsf\u00f6ruts\u00e4ttningarna f\u00f6r v\u00e5rt \u00c5bo Akademi? Parallellt har prorektor Reko Leino arbetat intensivt med fr\u00e5gan om forskarutbildningens framtid, dels i ljuset av de 1000 3-\u00e5riga doktorandbefattningar som finansierades nationellt, dels i ljuset av v\u00e5ra egna interna behov att se \u00f6ver utbildningens och doktorandprogrammens roll. Prof. Ronald \u00d6sterbacka fr\u00e5n Forskningsstrategiska r\u00e5det d\u00e4r prorektor Leino \u00e4r ordf\u00f6rande bes\u00f6ker fakultetens egen workshop om forskarutbildningen den 6 mars.<\/p>\n
Prorektor f\u00f6r undervisning Gunilla Wid\u00e9n fattade nyss ett beslut som ocks\u00e5 pekar mot st\u00f6rre f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringsprocesser. Inom fakulteterna skall vi g\u00f6ra \u201c\u00f6versiktsplaner i Excel \u00f6ver undervisningen som ges vid utbildningsprogrammen under det kommande l\u00e4s\u00e5ret\u201d. Vidare skall antalet valbara kurser och sj\u00e4lvstudiekurser som erbjuds l\u00e4s\u00e5ret 2024-2025 minskas. Slutligen kommer minimiantalet deltagare f\u00f6r en kurs vid \u00c5bo Akademi att vara 5-6: obligatoriska kurs som inte n\u00e5r detta m\u00e5ste ges p\u00e5 alternativt s\u00e4tt. Beslutet i sin helhet hittas p\u00e5 \u00c5A:s publiceringsplattform bland f\u00f6rvaltningsbeslut f\u00f6r prorektor Wid\u00e9n.<\/p>\n
Vad g\u00f6r vi med det h\u00e4r beslutet vid fakulteten?<\/p>\n
Excellistor \u00f6ver kurserna kommer att g\u00f6ras centralt s\u00e5 att \u00e4mnesansvarigas och l\u00e4rares roll minimeras till att fylla i n\u00e4r och hur kurser ges, samt vilken timbelastning det h\u00e4r inneb\u00e4r f\u00f6r inblandade l\u00e4rare. Det h\u00e4r \u00e4r ett steg mot st\u00f6rre transparens vad g\u00e4ller arbetsplanering vid \u00c5A och hur vi arbetar med kurser. Listorna fylls i parallellt som man arbetar med \u00e5rsplaneringen f\u00f6r undervisning 2024\u20132025 i Peppi. \u00c5rsplaneringen ska vara klar den 15.3, men listorna kommer att kunna uppdateras efter\u00e5t. Excellistorna f\u00f6r det h\u00e4r distribueras per 26.2.<\/p>\n
Minskningen av valbara kurser och sj\u00e4lvstudiekurser som erbjuds l\u00e4s\u00e5ret 2024-2025 tog vi redan tag i inom fakulteten, och prorektors beslut understryker mest vikten av det h\u00e4r. En del program minskade redan antalet kurser medan andra beh\u00f6ver g\u00f6ra det nu som en del av den p\u00e5g\u00e5ende \u00e5rsplaneringen. Vad g\u00e4ller den andra biten, dvs. hur vi hanterar viktiga kurser som inte har tillr\u00e4ckligt med deltagare s\u00e5 m\u00e5ste den fr\u00e5gan diskuteras p\u00e5 fakultetsdagen den 9 april d\u00e5 huvudtemat kommer att vara god praxis inom undervisningen.<\/p>\n
The big picture?<\/p>\n
Rector\u2019s recent letter to staff (14.02.2024) clearly ties in with ongoing changes and ambitions to reduce the number of courses, and to think reflectively about our use of resources, as indicated by vice-rector Wid\u00e9n’s decision, while all the time trying to secure possibilities for student progress on all levels, and to maintain quality in research and teaching.<\/p>\n
The situation is complex and challenging.\u00a0On the one hand, we have to pinpoint all this and more in the current renewal of \u00c5AU’s strategy. On the other, we need to deal with the fact that \u00c5AU’s finances are strained and we cannot continue along the current road. Dealing with one of these aspects would be more than enough, and they are hard to combine since they easily conflict with each other.<\/p>\n
Yet, the \u00c5AU Board realizes that they still need to go hand in hand. Rector has consequently initiated this process and we will now need to find new models for our work and how we think of it. Whether or not we succeed is yet to be seen, but one given prerequisite is that we take part in the process, that we take it seriously, and that we engage in the dialogue. Unless we try to make this also our process, the outcome cannot even come close to what we value.<\/p>\n
What can we provide in terms of education and research for the future?<\/p>\n
Given the current situation and the limits we face, we will have to rethink and redefine, we will have to negotiate with ourselves and with others, and we will need to compromise. Considering all this, I am confident that it was a good decision to refrain from an organizational change in the faculty. Nonetheless, there is no doubt that the current situation requires us to go ahead with finding ways to strengthen leadership, democracy, integrity, and efficiency in our faculty, building blocks that we need in the coming processes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
