Old ways as new challenges?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>(in English below)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Vi st\u00e5r igen inf\u00f6r f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringar och omst\u00e4llningar. Fr\u00e5n och med period 4 \u00e5terg\u00e5r vi vid \u00c5bo Akademi till n\u00e4rundervisning. Det inneb\u00e4r studier och arbete p\u00e5 campus. \u00c5bo Akademi \u00e4r inte ett distansuniversitet och all undervisning ordnas igen p\u00e5 campus. Studeranden f\u00f6rv\u00e4ntas komma till campus f\u00f6r att ta sina kurser. Och enligt ett rektors beslut f\u00f6rv\u00e4ntas undervisande och forskande personal i regel vara merparten av veckan p\u00e5 campus.<\/p>\n<p>F\u00f6r alla regler finns f\u00f6rst\u00e5s undantag. L\u00e4rare kan visserligen forts\u00e4ttningsvis ordna hybrid- eller distansundervisning. D\u00e5 talar vi i f\u00f6rsta hand om s\u00e5dan undervisning d\u00e4r det \u00e4r \u00e4ndam\u00e5lsenligt och det \u00e4r p\u00e5 inget s\u00e4tt nytt. Ett sj\u00e4lvklart exempel p\u00e5 det h\u00e4r \u00e4r s.k. omv\u00e4nt klassrum (eng. flipped classroom). N\u00e5gra av er minns kanske att vi h\u00f6ll ett infotillf\u00e4lle om det h\u00e4r bara n\u00e5gra m\u00e5nader innan pandemin br\u00f6t ut.<\/p>\n<p>Det kan ocks\u00e5 under v\u00e5ren f\u00f6rekomma distansundervisning som motiveras av att det kr\u00e4vs tid f\u00f6r anpassning av olika anledning. Det \u00e4r d\u00e5 inte ett didaktiskt val utan n\u00e5got som man kommer \u00f6verens om inom arbetsgemenskapen och med sina f\u00f6rman i form av ett undantag. Huvudprincipen som vi f\u00f6ljer \u00e4r med andra den samma som f\u00f6re pandemin: vi studerar och arbetar fr\u00e5n campus. Men precis som tidigare kan vi vara flexibla och tillm\u00f6tesg\u00e5ende exempelvis n\u00e4r studerande eller l\u00e4rare \u00e4r sjuka.<\/p>\n<p>Situationen \u00e4r inte n\u00f6dv\u00e4ndigtvis l\u00e4tt. Vi har redan hunnit v\u00e4nja oss vid distansarbete och -studier. Vi har b\u00e5de erfarenheter av det goda och det d\u00e5liga med arbete och studier p\u00e5 distans. De h\u00e4r f\u00f6rtj\u00e4nar en ordentlig diskussion i sig, och nu vill jag enbart lyfta fram att \u00e5terg\u00e5ngen till campus kanske inte sker av sig sj\u00e4lv.<\/p>\n<p>Jag tror att vi f\u00e5r jobba lite extra med att \u00e5terskapa b\u00e5de v\u00e5ra gamla rutiner och v\u00e5r studie- och arbetsgemenskap. Vi m\u00e5ste ge oss sj\u00e4lva m\u00f6jligheten att \u00e5teruppleva v\u00e4rdet med campus. Vi m\u00e5ste ocks\u00e5 ge den till dem som aldrig \u00e4nnu f\u00e5tt uppleva det \u00e4nnu vid v\u00e5rt universitet. Det \u00e4r s\u00e4kert en god id\u00e9 att aktivt ordna mindre tr\u00e4ffar och sociala evenemang f\u00f6r anst\u00e4llda, annan personal och studerande. Det har b\u00e5de en del \u00e4mnen och studentk\u00e5ren planer p\u00e5. N\u00e4sta fakultetsdag kommer ju ocks\u00e5 att g\u00e5 av stapeln p\u00e5 campus.<\/p>\n<p>Vi beh\u00f6ver gemenskapen f\u00f6r v\u00e5ra jobb och studier. Vare sig vi \u00e4r studerande eller personal beh\u00f6ver vi det sm\u00e5prat som finns p\u00e5 campus, och de uppslag och den inspiration som f\u00f6ds h\u00e4r. Vi beh\u00f6ver ocks\u00e5 st\u00f6d och bekr\u00e4ftelse av varandra i v\u00e5rt jobb och v\u00e5ra studier. D\u00e4rf\u00f6r \u00e4r arbete och studier p\u00e5 campus ocks\u00e5 v\u00e5rt gemensamma ansvar, n\u00e5got som vi ocks\u00e5 b\u00f6r ge v\u00e4rde och prioritet. Det \u00e4r ocks\u00e5 n\u00e5got som andra kan f\u00f6rv\u00e4nta sig av oss.<\/p>\n<p>Vi f\u00e5r med andra ord s\u00e4kert t\u00e4nka till en g\u00e5ng extra om hur vi ordnar v\u00e5r arbetsvardag d\u00e5 fokus blir p\u00e5 campus. M\u00e5nga har sett ett v\u00e4rde i att kunna jobba ost\u00f6rt hemifr\u00e5n med t.ex. forskning och i att kunna delta i m\u00f6ten p\u00e5 distans. S\u00e5dana erfarenheter skall vi inte f\u00f6rlora. Men, det vara bra att ta n\u00e5gra diskussion om den nya situationen.<\/p>\n<p>Hur hittar vi en bra balans mellan distans och campus? Hur lyckas vi ta tillvara det goda i b\u00e5da? Hur garanterar vi att vi finns till f\u00f6r varandra som anst\u00e4llda och studerande? \u00c4r det vissa dagar eller tider i veckan som vi alltid f\u00f6rs\u00f6ker vara p\u00e5 campus eller vilka spelregler \u00e4r det som g\u00e4ller?<\/p>\n<p>Trots att vi nu \u00e5terv\u00e4nder till gamla vanor \u00e4r inte allt som f\u00f6rr. Genom de erfarenheter vi f\u00e5tt under pandemin \u00e4r det gamla som vi \u00e5terv\u00e4nder till en ny situation. Den m\u00e5ste vi hitta s\u00e4tt att hantera och vi m\u00e5ste g\u00f6ra det tillsammans.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In English:<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Old ways as new challenges?<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Again we face changes and adjustments. In period 4 \u00c5bo Akademi University returns to on-site teaching, meaning we study and work on campus again. \u00c5bo Akademi University is not a distance learning university. All teaching takes place on campus again and this is where students are expected to come to take their classes. And a rector\u2019s decision from many years ago stipulate that as a rule teachers and researchers are expected to be on campus during major part of the week.<\/p>\n<p>There are of course exceptions to all rules. Teachers may still arrange hybrid or distance education. These are cases when the use of hybrid or distance solutions are appropriate. This is not a new thing. One obvious example is the use of flipped classroom. Some of you might remember that we arranged an event about this didactic method just some months before the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Hybrid or distance education might be arranged during period 4 also for different reasons such as the need to adjust to the new situation. This is not a result of a didactic consideration. It is an exception and it is agreed upon within the community and with one\u2019s supervisor. Our main principle is the same as before the pandemic: we study and work on campus. But just as before the pandemic we also know how to be flexible and accommodate needs when teachers or students fall sick.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, this is not necessarily an easy situation. We have already got accustomed to studying and working from home. On the one hand this has been a heavy experience, but on the other it has also been good in many ways. I will not go into discussing these experiences here. They require a lengthy refection.<\/p>\n<p>Rather, I just want to underline that our return to campus does not necessarily happen by itself. I think we will need to put some extra effort into recreating our old habits and our work and study community. We will need to experience the value of campus again, and we need to provide that to those who never had it at our university yet. It can be a good idea to arrange social events for students, teachers and other personnel, and I know that such plans are already made by many subjects and by the student union.<\/p>\n<p>We need our community for our work and studies. Whether we are students or teachers we need the small talk we find on campus, and we need the new ideas and inspiration it brings. We also need support and confirmation from each other. For such reasons, working and studying is also a shared responsibility, something that we need to value and prioritize. It is also something that others have the right to expect this from us.<\/p>\n<p>In other words we will now have to think through how we arrange our everyday life when it comes to work and studies. Many of us have found a great value in being able to work from home, concentrate on research or swiftly take part in meetings in between other duties. We need to take such experiences with us into the future. Yet, it can be wise to have some discussion about the new situation.<\/p>\n<p>How do we find a balance between campus and distance working? How do we manage to maintain the best aspects of both parts? How do we guarantee presence for each other as personnel and students? Are there certain times or days during the week that we all try to be at campus?<\/p>\n<p>Even though we return to old habits everything is not as it used to be. Our experiences from the pandemic has turned the old into something new.
