I takt med att regnet tilltar och h\u00f6stm\u00f6rkret kryper in s\u00f6ker vi oss tillbaka till arbete och studier. \u00c5bo Akademi \u00e4r ett campus-universitet. Att l\u00e4ra tillsammans, k\u00e4nna och t\u00e4nka efter, kritiskt utmana oss sj\u00e4lva och varandra \u00e4r viktiga delar av universitetsl\u00e4rarande.<\/p>\n<p>Vi skiljer oss p\u00e5 den punkten fr\u00e5n andra slags utbildningar. Parallellt med att universiteten f\u00f6rmedlar kunskap, s\u00e5\u00a0 pr\u00f6vas den och omskapas hela tiden. Forskning \u00e4r andra sidan av myntet: vi skapar ny kunskap, nya s\u00e4tt att se, f\u00f6rst\u00e5 och verka i v\u00e5r omv\u00e4rld. Det \u00e4r det som g\u00f6r oss akademiska.<\/p>\n<p>Det \u00e4r alltid lika fint att kunna v\u00e4lkomna er som \u00e4r nya studerande hit till fakulteten. L\u00e4rarna och forskarna h\u00e4r kan f\u00e5 en avg\u00f6rande roll i era liv. Men &#8211; ni m\u00e5ste satsa sj\u00e4lva och engagera er, ger rum f\u00f6r m\u00f6jligheten och den akademiska resan.<\/p>\n<p>Ni \u00e4r ocks\u00e5 sj\u00e4lva en viktig resurs f\u00f6r fakulteten. I mitt f\u00f6rra blogginl\u00e4gg lyfte jag upp hur viktigt det \u00e4r att studerande kommer in med nya fr\u00e5gor, tankar och perspektiv. Jag vet att m\u00e5nga av v\u00e5ra l\u00e4rare och forskare uppskattar de nya vindar som kommer med er, era kritiska fr\u00e5gor som kr\u00e4ver nya svar. V\u00e4lkomna!<\/p>\n<p>Universitetsutbildning \u00e4r m\u00e5ngsidig. Den bygger inom v\u00e5r fakultet p\u00e5 fortsatt \u00e4mnesf\u00f6rdjupning inom olika linjer: spr\u00e5k, teologi, psykologi, logopedi, samt linjen f\u00f6r kultur, historia och filosofi. Parallellt uppmuntrar vi \u00e4mnesm\u00e4ssig breddning: den skapar grund f\u00f6r reflexivitet och bildning.<\/p>\n<p>Vi f\u00e5r inte f\u00f6rlora kunskapens och bildningens v\u00e4rde ur sikte. Vad kan vi g\u00f6ra med det vi l\u00e4r oss? Hur kan vi kommunicera och n\u00e5 fram? Hur kan vi bidra till f\u00f6r\u00e4ndring och utveckling? Vi vill f\u00f6rst\u00e4rka det akademiska med b\u00e5de omv\u00e4rlds- och arbetslivsrelevans.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">***<\/p>\n<p>Students, teachers, researchers, and administrative staff &#8211; we cannot neglect or overlook our responsibility for the future. The Faculty of Arts, Psychology and Theology is continuously developing our capacity to carry our responsibility for aspects of sustainability in both our teaching and research. Over the years many subjects have contributed a lot to this.<\/p>\n<p>There are also relevant minors and course modules of relevance such as Intercultural communication and encounters, and Minority studies. This fall we also introduce a totally new minor that explicitly taps into Agenda 2030. This is Ethics in a globalized world. Several of the courses can be completed in English.<\/p>\n<p>The pandemic is still affecting our studies and work but the university is now taking its first steps back to more regular teaching. This means a balancing act for all: students, teachers, researchers, and administrative staff. We need to keep the number of people at campus lower and consider safety, but we also need to make space for coming together. Teaching and research are interwoven and often gain depth and quality through interaction. That is what makes us academic.<\/p>\n<p>In practice, some courses at our faculty will be given as classes or seminars on campus, whereas some courses will be given online. In other cases the course means a combination of both. In this situation it is therefore important that teachers are very clear about what is the case in each course and how it can be completed. Students on their side will need to be very attentive to this and follow the plans. How a course is completed is not a choice students can make themselves, and the design of a course cannot be changed suddenly without very good reasons.<\/p>\n<p>The pandemic will be a joker in our balancing act throughout the coming term and we do not know what will follow. The lack of security and predictability that we experience is in itself hard to deal with.<\/p>\n<p>Pop-up vaccination points will most probably be established soon on campus and available to students. That can make a difference and we will soon have more info in this. Still, trust in each other, cooperation and communication will also be vital resources. They will help us cope with challenges and find ways back to the real academic university on campus.<\/p>\n<p>I wish all new students welcome &#8211; including foreign and exchange students! I hope the time here will make a difference in your life.<\/p>\n<p>To all the rest: welcome back to a new academic year of research and teaching.
