Den har inte varit bra f\u00f6r oss som m\u00e4nniskor. Vi beh\u00f6ver varandra i v\u00e5rt arbete och i v\u00e5ra studier. S\u00e5, t\u00e4nd ett ljus!<\/p>\n

Det h\u00e4r kommer snart att vara historia, men d\u00e5 g\u00e5r vi knappast tillbaka till samma l\u00e4ge som f\u00f6re pandemin. Vi kommer att ta med oss vad vi l\u00e4rt. Den digitala kompetensen och de nya praktikerna som vi utvecklat kommer att vara v\u00e4rdefulla f\u00f6r framtiden. Lika v\u00e4rdefull kommer insikten om n\u00e4r det digitala inte r\u00e4cker till att vara, om att det digitala samspelet beh\u00f6ver rotas i rum av konkreta m\u00f6ten mellan m\u00e4nniskor.<\/p>\n
Det \u00e4r m\u00e5nga som f\u00f6rs\u00f6ker hitta s\u00e4tt att g\u00f6ra situationen l\u00e4ttare och nu med sikte p\u00e5 v\u00e5ren. Den pedagogiska ledningsgruppen vid fakulteten hade ett bra m\u00f6te och f\u00f6rslag f\u00f6rdes vidare till ledningen. Olika sm\u00e5grupper och st\u00f6dgrupper kan vara en r\u00e4ddningsplanka, och kanske nya studietekniker och examinationsformer. I en situation som den h\u00e4r m\u00e5ste vi \u00f6verv\u00e4ga och ge utrymme f\u00f6r alla id\u00e9er, testa nya s\u00e4tt att undervisa och l\u00e4ra oss. Vi m\u00e5ste ocks\u00e5 en tid vara realistiska och n\u00f6jda med vad som \u00e4r m\u00f6jligt.<\/p>\n
Rektor Moira von Wright ber\u00f6rde \u00c5A:s ekonomiska situation i sin blogg och julh\u00e4lsning<\/a>.\u00a0Ekonomi \u00e4r anstr\u00e4ngd och n\u00e4sta \u00e5r lever vi i praktiken \u00f6ver v\u00e5ra tillg\u00e5ngar. Ekonomin har v\u00e4xt till ett orosmoln som inte skingras av sig sj\u00e4lvt. Det kr\u00e4ver \u00e5tg\u00e4rder. Vilket utrymme och medel har vi i nul\u00e4get f\u00f6r det?<\/p>\n I samband med rektors ledningsr\u00e5dsm\u00f6te uttalade jag mig otydligt och en kollega fr\u00e5gade kritiskt och med all r\u00e4tt hur jag kan se n\u00e5got positivt med att vi budgeterar ett betydligt minus f\u00f6r n\u00e4sta \u00e5r. Jag ser f\u00f6rst\u00e5s ingenting positivt med en s\u00e5dan budget, men n\u00e4r vi v\u00e4l st\u00e4lls inf\u00f6r ett s\u00e5dant faktum \u00e4r det en avg\u00f6rande fr\u00e5ga hur vi m\u00f6ter och hanterar krisen. H\u00e4r ser jag positiva tendenser.<\/p>\n +++<\/p>\n \u00c5bo Akademi University faces economic challenges that will have to be dealt with. This means an\u00a0added burden besides the pandemic. Nevertheless, Rector Moira von Wright addresses the situation in her most recent blog<\/a> and Chair of the \u00c5AU Board commented on the situation in interviews. Both indicate that the university will not be rushing into drastic solutions and budget cuts. Instead there is an emphasis of finding strategic sustainable solutions.<\/p>\n Having a long term perspective like this involves risk-taking especially when we account for the everchanging political and economic fabrics that universities are dependent of. Yet, it builds on trust in the university, in its role and possibilities. It requires reflexivity and courage. For me this is a signal that affects me like the news about the vaccine. It gives a glimpse of hope and helps me think ahead.<\/p>\n Universities in Finland and elsewhere were at a loss this year. We can honestly say that to a significant extent they were deprived the possibility to provide good circumstances for work and studies, teaching and research. The year demanded a lot from staff and students. Without the tools we found in digital solutions and the support we gained for this we would probably have come to a dead end.<\/p>\n I know that many of you have struggled with finding solutions, motivation and energy for your work and studies during the last year. This was the case for all: students, teachers, researchers, and staff in administrative and support services. I sincerely hope you can feel that you did a good job. I am very thankful for your contributions, the effort and creativity you put into your work, and for the results we achieved within the faculty.<\/p>\n We had to skip our traditional Christmas parties, but some warmth and comfort was still provided by a range of digital celebrations. Professor Patrik Jern and professor Viveka Lyberg \u00c5hlander made an amazing and hilarious Christmas Covid Duet, based on the Mountain Duet from Chess. This YouTube hit has already been watched by thousands of people and if you missed it you find it here<\/a>\u00a0(sung in Swedish). Are these our own Michael Bubl\u00e9 and Carrie Underwood? In any case they are scheduled for one live performance at Arken and that is of course our Christmas party 2021. It will happen!<\/p>\n Things will not be very different when we come back in January. Yet, the current situation is turning towards the better \u2013 and we are getting more confident about what matters and how to navigate the situation. The pandemic will soon be part of our history, and an experience we can learn from. That is an asset we all have in common in universities and that defines our: creating and communicating knowledge for the future.<\/p>\n Thank you all for being part of our faculty community 2020!
